The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has conducted fire training exercise for staff of the Mensah Sarbah Hall. The training form part of the GNFS mandate of sensitising the public with mechanisms for the protection of life and property against fire. The training sought to equip staff on how to prevent fire, follow fire safety protocol, identify hazards, use firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers, and follow proper evacuation procedures. The training facilitated by Ado Essel Derrick and LFW Stacy Nimako of the GNFS Legon Station, focused on fire detection systems, identification of different types of fires and extinguishers, and response to fire emergencies. The training blended presentations, interactive sessions and hands-on demonstration with use of fire extinguishers. Participants expressed satisfaction with the training contents and suggested the need for targeted and periodic training on evacuation methods. The hall master requested that the facilitators conduct comprehensive fire audit and present a report to hall management for implementation.
