Ghana’s leading urban youth radio station, YFM Ghana, has signed a landmark three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mensah Sarbah Hall JCR of the University of Ghana to support Hall Week celebrations and promote student development. The partnership builds on the success of last year’s collaboration, which played a key role in reviving the Hall Week celebrations after several years of inactivity.
The signing ceremony, held at the Senior Common Room of Mensah Sarbah Hall, brought together Hall Management, YFM executives, JCR leaders, committee members, and the media to witness what is the first formal partnership of its kind for the Hall.
Welcoming guests, the Hall Master, Prof. Roger A. Atinga, described the collaboration as a transformative milestone that aligns Mensah Sarbah Hall with one of Ghana’s most influential media brands. He noted that the Hall’s tradition of excellence makes partnerships with reputable organizations such as YFM both strategic and beneficial.
The Senior Tutor, Dr. Daniel Darko, expressed optimism that the partnership would further strengthen the Hall’s reputation while creating lasting value for students.
Speaking on behalf of Global Media Alliance, Group CEO Ernest Boateng reaffirmed YFM’s commitment to youth empowerment, highlighting the station’s long-standing impact across Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would continue to inspire and develop young people.
Dr. Timothy Karikari, Director of Broadcasting at Global Media Alliance Broadcast Company, explained that the partnership extends beyond Hall Week activities to include internships, mentorship, networking opportunities, and career development initiatives that will equip students with practical industry experience.
The JCR President, Nana Yaa Agyeman, welcomed the partnership, describing it as a significant step forward for the Hall as preparations intensify for this year’s Hall Week celebrations dubbed ASCENOVA. She expressed confidence that the collaboration would elevate the event while creating meaningful opportunities for the student body.
