On Thursday August 1, 2024, newly elected council members of the Mensah Sarbah were
sworn into office. The eleven (11) elected members together with the hall management
constitute the governing council of the hall. The event marked the official induction of
members to execute their responsibilities set forth in the hall statutes. Each member took oath
of office pledging their commitment to provide strategic guidance and support to advance the
vision of making Mensah Sarbah Hall the most preferred hall of residence for students and
guest.
In swearing-in the members, the hall Master congratulated them for their election and admonished them to serve the hall with enthusiasm, passion, commitment, professionalism and good character. He also stated that their insight will be critical in shaping the hall’s developmental agenda particularly its quest to significantly improve on academic and residential facilities. “I encourage you to constantly advance more innovative ideas to improve on academic and residential quality in the hall” he added.
The council established under Article 15(1) of the Hall’s Statutes is composed of the following:
- The Master (Chairperson)
- The Senior Tutor
- The Deputy Senior Tutor
- Hall Bursar/ Secretary
- The President of the Senior Common Room
- The President/Representative of the Alumni Association
- The President of the Junior Common Room
- Two (2) Tutors elected by the Tutorial Board
- Two (2) representatives of the Junior Common Room
- Six (6) Fellows
- A representative of permanent or established workers in Mensah Sarbah Hall
- An ex-officio member appointed to advise on legal and technical issues
The newly constituted council members are Dr. Vera Eiseman Fordjour (Department of Statistics & Actuarial Science), Mr. Ahmed Badawi Mustapha (Institute of African Studies), Mrs. Yvonne Lartey (College of Health Services), Dr. Salifu Mohammed (Department of
Teacher Education) and Mr. Moses Mensah Nuworzah (Staff representative of the Hall). The
rest are Dr. Johnny Andoh-Arthur (Department of Psychology), Dr. Richard Minkah (Department of Statistics & Actuarial Science), Dr. Daniel Brain Akakpo (Department of Crop Science), Mr. Joseph Dwumfour (Office of Risk Management), Dr. Joyce Anku (Department of Teacher Education) and Dr. Prince Obiri- Korang (School of Law).
